Church Boy Bizness drops ‘Banger’

Church Boy Bizness drops ‘Banger’

Church Boyy Bizness, a Christian hip hop outfit made up of Yung Josh, RT and Jorimm released their trap banger titled ‘Banger’.  Like the title suggests, this song talks about how this group’s aim to give out nothing but bangers.

Their individual style of delivery creates room for versatility, making it easy for the listener to follow the song through. Many thanks to Don P for making sure all this was laced on a proper beat. The one thing that stands out on this particular song is the catchy hook. Well done guys. Hope you bless us with more music soon.

Banger is taken off their upcoming EP, ‘Crowns and Dreams’ under Divine Movement Media.

Abedi talks about ‘Pasi Pezuva’

Abedi talks about ‘Pasi Pezuva’

I caught up with Abedi to talk about his new mixtape, ‘Pasi pezuva’ and a few other things.

image

Mixtape Cover

What is ‘Pasi Pezuva’ all about?

Pasi Pezuva is my 3rd mixtape and it’s my favorite project so far. This tape is all about giving hope to all my folks in the ghetto or even those elsewhere. Most of my people are now doing drugs as a way to ease pain and stress. So Pasi Pezuva addresses that. It’s also about how I am living; the struggles I am facing trying to make it in life.
A lot of folks are relating to it because we feel the same about what’s around us. This is music for the people that I am trying to reach out to.

What inspired the title?

The title was inspired by what’s under the sun; the good, the bad & the ghetto.

Who is featured on this mixtape?

This project is blessed with verses from Sharky, Malcolm Mufunde & Born Allahu 7. On the hooks there’s Prommy, Leah and Mr H.
Fun F and Xin made the beats and Skimbo recorded, mixed and mastered it.

Wait, which Skimbo is this one?

The one that came to mind, first; The Zimdancehall Comedian “wekwa” Lady Squanda

.

Are you happy with the reception your project is getting?

I am really happy with the reception. People are loving how real and relatable it is. Most of them are always saying, ” Man, you were really talking to us talking about the life we are living.”

What would you change/ improve on, on your next project that you learnt from working on this one?

On this one I have learnt that the hooks I did on my own were not really on point so on the next project I am going to try to do better. My verses are ruthless though, but I guess I need to get deeper on the next project I’ll publish.

Any message to the fans??

I would like to say thanks to my fans for supporting my work. Keep at it. If all goes well, I might drop another project before the year ends.

Shout outs, please.

Sending shout outs to Skimbo, Fun F, Xin, Tha Mind, Sharky, Leah, Prommy, Mr H, Born Allahu 7 and Maverick.

Bars 263 wishes you the best in your future work.

Denny Dugg releases ‘Fade Away’ ahead of new mixtape

Denny Dugg releases ‘Fade Away’ ahead of new mixtape

Denny Dugg’s latest offering is unexpected, a bit confusing at first but very refreshing. Known for house hits such as ‘Low’, ‘Stupid Love’ and ‘Borrowed Time’ on the South African music front, the man decided to give us a trap song this time around. Oh, what a time to be in love!

image

'Fade Away' artwork

‘Fade away’ is your typical new love type of song. Like any person who’s just found love, Denny is pretty much overwhelmed by the new feeling and he brings it out so skillfully in song. May I also add that this guy loves to show off his vocal strengths with the prompt key and note switch ups like it’s nothing. I guess his focus kept fading away when he worked on this. I kid!

Asked what he’d like to say about the song, all he added was that ‘Fade Way’ is taken off the ‘Remind Me’ mixtape that will be released soon. At this point I’m not sure if I’d enjoy his voice on any other genre other than house music. But for this project, he deserves a mellow 7/10. Hope you enjoy it!

Kevin Munetsi – ‘Elixirs’ (Fresh Outta Exams) Freestlye

Kevin Munetsi – ‘Elixirs’ (Fresh Outta Exams) Freestlye

Do you remember that soulful ‘Let me’ singer who made waves on local radio years ago? Kevin Munetsi! I really can’t pin point what sparked the idea in him, but he has just dropped a freestyle.

image

Is he trying to prove a point to someone (people) or what? So has he shifted from singing to rapping? When is the mixtape/album, whatever dropping? Is he suggesting that he can cure Zim Hip Hop that seems to be ill at the moment(maybe that explains the title)??
I DON’T KNOW!
I have to give it to him though, the guy can rap!

To get the ‘Elixirs’ freestyle, send a Whatsapp message to the guy on +263773156685

High Score remix artwork

‘High Score’ has a remix and it features Cal Vin. First things first, Brythreesixty killed his verse on this song more than he did on the original. Practice makes perfect! Cal Vin didn’t disappoint as expected. Egos and subliminal shots is what you will pick from this offering. Hip hop sucks without that anyway so thumbs up, guys.

EyeAmI releases ‘Y, Songs About You’ EP

EyeAmI releases ‘Y, Songs About You’ EP
image

Y, Songs About You cover

EyeAmI’s latest project ‘Y, Songs About You’ is what he describes as looking at the world from the eyes of a 90’s kid (the Y generation). Hence the title. His intention was to get the attention of others by understanding them first through music, so that in turn they’ll understand who he is as an artist.

I feel like this project is important
because it’s refreshingly unique. It reflects the
African culture that I grew up in while still showing
the diversity that Toronto is famous for – both
musically and culturally

There’s notable growth from when he released ‘Far From Home’ in terms of delivery, song writing and musical concepts. I also picked up that Toronto (where he is based) influenced feel on his EP. In his quest for a new identity, he changed his name from Lewis The artist to EyeAmI. I guess that was inevitable.

EyeAmI has high hopes for ‘Y, Songs about You’.

I hope everyone enjoys the EP and vibes to it this
summer! I want people
to look back on summer of 2016 and say, “that’s
the summer EyeAmi released that crazy EP with
Wagadugu and Mary and we were in….doing….”
and  “Oh we spent sooo much money on Uber that
summer”. But most importantly, I want my close
friends and family, to whom
some of these songs are dedicated, to enjoy the
music and know how much I appreciate each and
everyone of them.

I’m still checking the project out. But all I can say for now is that he is headed to the top. It’s refreshing to see artists grow and push limits.

Promics – ‘Blowing Up’

Promics – ‘Blowing Up’

Promics is back with a new song that’s absolutely different from his last ‘gospel’ offering. This time he is ‘Blowing Up’ as the title of the song suggests. Like any hip hop artist, a little bragging here and there is good for your image’s health, if there is such a thing.

image

Blowing Up artwork

On this project, the man took time to diss his competition, paying particular attention to his haters. Those who thought he’s washed up and on his way out, he doesn’t think so.  On the production is Stotter of Empire State of Mind. He delivered a trap kind of instrumental that made it easy for Pro to go all out telling the world that he’s busy getting better. I hope you enjoy this one like I did. You’ll be surprised to notice that for once, this guy delivered his verses in a very lazy fashion.

KiddLocco – ‘Turnupnyana’

KiddLocco – ‘Turnupnyana’

Hey, we’ve got yet another trap banger!! KiddLocco, formerly known as GTflykidd
has released a single titled ‘Turnupnyana’. It’s good to see more Bulawayo hip hop artists releasing brand new material.

image

'Turnupnyana' artwork

In ‘Turnupnyana’, the man gears up for a turn up in a very artistic fashion. I particularly liked how he turned to vernacular when he dropped a couple of Ndebele ad-libs. On this song, KiddLocco teamed up with In The City Global and the project was recorded and produced by ChiccoRax at
Mic-A-BlazeStudio. Press play!

Lil Dizzie and El Deeper – ‘Go Down’ (prod. by Kimosabe)

Lil Dizzie and El Deeper – ‘Go Down’ (prod. by Kimosabe)

Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe meet on a song called ‘Go Down’ that talks about you know what. Zimbabwean rapper El Deeper linked up with Lil Dizzie from Nigeria to talk about their fantasies with South African Kimosabe on the production.

image

'Go Down' Artwork

It seems Lil Dizzie loves collaborating with Zimbabweans. Remember the award winning song ‘Shay Baii’ that he did with Brythreesixty??

The diversity on ‘Go Down’ is interesting. You’ll pick up some lines in Shona and a heavy Naija pidgin English accent, all on Kimosabe’s easy-on-the-ear instrumental. Enjoy it!

Divine – ‘Don’t Cry’ feat. MaQk

Divine – ‘Don’t Cry’ feat. MaQk

Divine can be best described as a Country Pop style artist who’s blessed with a versatile vocal ability. This is evident in his latest offering ‘Dont Cry’ as he attempts a hiphop, pop type of sound. We also get to see him perform without the outfit AfroRhythm that he’s a part of.

In ‘Don’t Cry’, the man is asking his mom not to lose hope in him as he works towards achieving his dreams. MaQk appears on the second verse preaching the same gospel. Their combination produced a short, heartfelt piece that many can relate to. On the production is MaQk of AMVIS Music Group.
